The Public Market aka The Farmer’s Market

The Farmer’s market is back for another season in Red Deer. After a long winter, it really feels welcoming to bring back a warm weather staple in Central Alberta. According to the Market at Red Deer Facebook page, the Red Deer Public Market will be entering into its 48th season, an exceptional feat considering all of the challenges organizing a Market of this magnitude year after year can bring ie: changing locations in preparation of the Canada Winter Games. This season also marks the 9th season for Humble Hummus to be part of the market and truly in those nine years it continues to grow and serve Red Deerians and Central Albertans a like in so many ways. It’s a remarkable thing introducing people to the market for the first time. Everyone is blown away by the sheer size of the event and how friendly people are. Not to mention that there really is something for everyone to enjoy. If you’ve never been or haven’t been in a long time, we recommend you check it out. You won’t be disappointed. If you’re a regular, we welcome you back with open arms (well at least Humble Hummus does ha!) and will be glad to see you once again to catch up. What a pleasure it is to be back this season. You know, while this current incarnation of the Farmers market is 48 years old, the first ever public market in Red Deer goes back to 1906, shortly after becoming an ‘actual’ town. There is a ton of history and hard work that goes into the market. The people behind the scenes and the people in front. Not to mention the details of how it propels this community to benefit a sustainable, prosperous future. The future is here, the same will go in a hundred years from now. Be a part of history and come see the Red Deer Farmers Market in 2018 at the Memorial Center. It’s part of this city and it’s a part of what makes this city great. And while you’re there of course come see us! Humble Hummus! ~Jason
